Cashback portals track purchases through an affiliate referral link. TopCashback says in its help guide on missing cash back shoppers must click through its site or app and finish checkout in the same session without opening other tabs or coupon extensions.
Rakuten gives the same warning about software interference. Rakuten states in its help article on missing Cash Back ad blockers, VPNs, cookie blockers and security software can block tracking and cause an app-initiated purchase to earn nothing.

Many app purchases fail before checkout even begins. Ibotta says purchases that do not start in its app, website or extension are ineligible because the retailer link is missing.
That means opening the retailer app directly, using a saved bookmark, or returning later to finish the order can void the reward. Always tap the store inside the cashback app and keep shopping in that same window.
Did your cart or coupon cancel it?
Items already sitting in your cart may not earn cash back. Ibotta instructs in its tips for using Ibotta correctly app shoppers to activate the offer before shopping and to empty any existing online cart first.
Outside coupons cause the same problem. Rakuten and TopCashback state that using a coupon or voucher code not listed on their own site can void cashback, even if the order otherwise tracked. Use only codes shown inside the portal.

Start clean for every cashback purchase. Disable ad blockers and VPNs for the checkout, allow cookies for the store, and close coupon extensions.

Can you still claim the missing amount?
First check the portal's Shopping Trips or Earnings record promptly after buying. Many rewards need retailer confirmation first, then quarterly PayPal or check payout, so treat portal cashback as a bonus rather than guaranteed savings.
When tracking fails, file a missing-cashback claim with order details. TopCashback allows claims within 100 days, while Ibotta allows one missing-cash claim per in-store receipt within 7 days of the receipt date. Save the order number, total, date, and receipt until the cashback clears.
