Cashback Savings 2026 Guide: price, eligibility, and deadlines; Key Facts and Questions to Ask

Compare 2026 cashback rates, spending tests and cutoff dates to keep more from everyday grocery and dining spend.

Cashback savings in 2026 pay 2% in the UK up to £20 a month, 5% in the US on up to $1,500 quarterly spend, and 6% in Singapore capped at S$160 a month. Eligibility depends on monthly transactions, savings balances or spending thresholds, and each offer has a fixed activation or enrollment deadline. Cashback savings here means cash rewards paid on card spend or cash bonuses for new savings deposits. This guide compares what you get, who qualifies and when you must act.

How much can you earn?

According to Chase UK, it pays 2% cashback up to £20 per month on debit or credit card spend on groceries, restaurants, cafes, takeaways, everyday transport, fuel and public EV charging in the current Chase account offer. That cap means £1,000 of eligible monthly spend earns the full £20. Smaller eligible spend earns proportionally less.

Chase in the US pays more per pound or dollar but for a shorter window. Chase announced through Business Wire that Freedom and Freedom Flex earn 5% cash back from 1 Oct to 31 Dec 2026 on grocery stores, dining and eligible American Red Cross donations on up to $1,500 combined quarterly spend in the Q4 rewards announcement. Full use of that quarterly allowance equals $75 back. OCBC states a higher ongoing card rate in the bank's October card update, with its 365 card paying 6% on dining, groceries, land transport and petrol from 1 Nov 2026, capped at S$160 per month.

Do you qualify for Chase UK 2%?

MoneySavingExpert reports that customers aged 18 and over with a Chase current and saver account must make 15 or more eligible card or Direct Debit payments and hold £1,000 or more across Chase savings in the preceding calendar month in its May cashback explainer. Both tests apply each month. Miss either test and that month earns no 2%.

The Scottish Sun, reporting Chase terms, says Chase replaced the former £1,500 monthly pay-in rule on 1 June 2026 with the 15-transaction plus £1,000-savings test. The same reporting says Chase can cancel the cashback offer with 30 days notice. Budget savers should therefore re-check qualification every month rather than assume it continues.

What are the US Freedom deadlines and exclusions?

Chase Newsroom states that cardholders must activate the Q4 2026 Freedom categories by 14 Dec 2026 by app, web or phone. Activation is required separately for each card. It applies retroactively to earlier eligible spend in the same quarter.

Grocery coverage is narrower than many shoppers expect. Walmart and Target grocery purchases are excluded, according to Chase Newsroom. Donations must be eligible American Red Cross donations. Activate early, then use the right card at grocery stores and restaurants through 31 Dec.

Who qualifies for OCBC 365 and Bank of America savings?

OCBC says 365 cardholders must spend at least S$800 per calendar month to receive the 6% rate. The structure is single-tier from 1 Nov 2026, with cashback capped at S$160 per month. Spend below S$800 in a month misses the rate for that month.

Bank of America takes a different approach by rewarding new deposits rather than card spend. Its 2026 Savings Tiered Cash Offer requires enrollment by 31 Oct 2026. Offer terms require deposit of qualifying New Money into a personal savings account within 30 days of enrolling. New Money excludes funds already held in Bank of America or Merrill accounts, so moving existing balances between accounts does not qualify.

Which questions should you ask before acting?

Ask where your normal spending already fits, what proof of eligibility you need, and what date controls payment. A practical check takes five minutes and prevents missed deadlines. Set phone reminders for 31 Oct for the savings enrollment, 1 Nov for the Singapore card change, and 14 Dec for US category activation.

  • Does my regular grocery, dining, transport and fuel spend clear the monthly minimum or transaction count?
  • Which stores are excluded, and does my card need separate activation?
  • Is the reward based on last month's savings balance or this month's new deposit?
  • What is the final enrollment, activation or spend-by date, and how will I pay on time?
